The first snow of the season arrived on November 4th, and this shot shows a good dusting on Scafell Pike
Trip to the Morrocan Sahara and the dunes of Erg Chegaga Roger, Mick, Hugh, and Norman had a weeks trekking in southern Morocco into the Sahara desert, with the objective of ascending the highest sand dunes in northern Africa - Erg Chegaga. It wasn't just Fellfarer's in the group as we were joined by Sandra from Brighton.

	Not all walking was on sand dunes. Here the lunch time objective was about 5 miles across a stony flat area.

Saturday walk - Wetherlam, Swirl How, Great Carrs, Wetside Edge from Tilberthwaite. Kevin and Tina Ford, Ray Garnett and Karen, Mick Fox, Frank Haygarth, Hugh Taylor The seven members met up at Tilberthwaite car park and set off with low cloud down to about 1,200 feet. The connoisseurs route up Wetherlam is definitely via Steel Edge and that's the route that Kevin lead us. In the low cloud we topped out and walked on over Wetherlam to Swirl Hause, and up Prison Band to Swirl How where lunch was taken. Then onto Great Carrs and down Wet Side Edge to cross Greenburn Beck by the footbridge not marked on the map. Returning via the track over the edge of Knotts, we arrived back at the cars just as darkness was falling. Perfect timing Kevin, and thanks for the walk.

One for Jan and Ruth and their 80 footbridges challenge. With the low cloud finally clearing at the end of the day, this footbridge crosses Greenburn Beck at the end of Wet Side Edge. 	The November slideshow was advertised as ‘A Retirement Adventure’ and was given by Tony and Sue Maguire, at the usual venue of the Strickland Arms. About 20 members enjoyed their five months traveling in the period between early retirement and joining the Fellfarers some 7 years ago. Their travels took in Vietnam, Cambodia and Bali, and return visits to New Zealand and Nepal. Good stuff as always.

Mid-week Walk - A Walk in the Woods around Grange Given the wet and cloudy forecast, a low level 'Walk in the Woods' around Grange was a good choice by John Peat. Unfortunately, John's wife Anne had just had an operation so he was helping her recover, and so Mick Fox helped out by leading the walk in his place. Thirteen members and guests assembled at Grange railway station, and Mick led off up towards the Netherwood Hotel: not for coffee but for the path that went round the back and onto Brown Robin Nature Reserve. Then down to The Slack, up through Eggerslack Wood and onto Hampsfell where lunch was taken at the Hospice. The return was via Fell End and Eden Mount, followed by tea and cake al fresco at the cafe. Thanks for the walk John and Mick, and I'm sure that all Fellfarers hope that Anne has a speedy recovery.
